General Terms & Conditions
Italy-Carpe Diem staff has designed the itineraries of the tours published on this web site, chosen the hotels, restaurants and guides.
Everything has been done under the supervision of Make Tourism S.a.s, which is an international tourism supplier located in Rome, Italy (Piazza Bologna 10, 00162 Roma).
Please read carefully the following terms and conditions as they form the basis for acceptance of all bookings.
Booking your Tour Program
It is possible to implement a booking request by filling in the questionnaire published on this web site.
A provisional booking will be made at this time but will be confirmed only on receipt of deposit (200 euros per person: not refundable processing fee).
Terms of payment: Christmas 2010 tour
20o euros (not refundable processing fee): due not later than May 18, 2010
30% of program cost (minus 200 euros processing fee): due by July 19, 2010
Remaining amount: due by October 29, 2010
If a booking is made after October 29, 2010 then full payment (processing fee + program cost) is required at the time of booking. In this case Italy - Carpe Diem will advise as to the availability of the requested program and, once verified, will forward all the relevant information.
Cancellation
If for any reason you cancel your trip, you must do so in writing.
All cancellations must be made in writing. Please send to ....
Please specify in your letter the name of the Italy-Carpe Diem tour you want to cancel. In addition send an email to information@italycarpediem.com
Cancellation refunds will be calculated as of the date we receive your writing cancellation (not email).
Processing Fee
In addition to any cancellation penalties, there is a standard non- refundable fee of 200 euros per person.
This fee reflects only our costs of administering a reservation. It is due within two weeks of confirmation.
Full payment is due 60 days prior to departure (December 18, 2010): within October 19, 2010
Please note that if you cancel on or after the scheduled date of departure, you will not receive any refund.
Cancellation Charges
The penalty schedule for cancellation is as follows:
Up to 90 Days Prior to Trip Departure/Departure Day: Full refund of what paid so far minus 200 euros Admin Fee
Up to 60 Days Prior to Trip Departure: Refund of 50% of Trip Price (or what paid so far) minus 200 euros Admin Fee
Up to 30 Days Prior to Trip Departure: Refund of 25% of Trip Price (or what paid so far) minus 200 euros Admin Fee
Cancellation of Trip with less than 30 days to Trip Departure: No Refund
Cancellation of Trip due to low enrolment: Full Refund
Italy- Carpe Diem reserves the right to cancel the program due to low enrolment.
Before cancelling the tour Italy-Carpe Diem will contact each registered member to notify any price differences. A low number of participants may affect the program cost. Therefore actual cancellation will be based on registered participants’ feedback.
Responsibility
The responsibility of Italy – Carpe Diem, Make Tourism S.a.s. and its affiliated companies, are strictly limited.
As a tour operator Make Tourism organizes, promotes and sells trips consisting of certain travel services, including surface, air and water transportation, sightseeing excursions, and cruise/barge/hotel accommodations which Make Tourism purchases or reserves from various suppliers (collectively ‘Suppliers'). Make Tourism S.a.s. does not own or operate any of these Suppliers. The Suppliers providing these services for Make Tourism S.a.s trips are independent contractors, and are not agents or employees of Make Tourism S.a.s. and Italy - Carpe Diem. As such, Italy-Carpe Diem and Make Tourism are not responsible for any negligent or willful act or failure to act of any supplier or of any third party.
Some trips may include visits to shops and merchants. Italy-Carpe Diem and Make Tourism S.a.s.are not responsible for any purchases you make during your trip, whether that merchant is a part of the scheduled itinerary or not. By utilizing the travel services of the Suppliers, you agree that you will look to such Suppliers for any accident, injury, property damage or personal loss to you or to those travelling with you, and that neither Italy-Carpe Diem or Make Tourism S.a.s. or any representative of Italy-Carpe Diem and Make Tourism S.a.s. shall be liable.
Make Tourism S.a.s. is the principal tour operator for these programs and will undertake all arrangements and all tour services and accommodations offered. Italy-Carpe Diem and Make Tourism S.a.s., its owners, agents, servants, associates and employees shall not be held responsible for personal injuries or property damage, loss, or delay, or change of itinerary incurred by any person or tour participant nor shall they be responsible for injuries, death, damage, loss or delay in any means of transportation or by reasons of any event beyond the actual control of Make Tourism and Italy- Carpe Diem, or any owner, agent, employee or supplier.
Make Tourism S.a.s. in accordance with Italy – Carpe Diem reserves the right to substitute hotels, restaurants or other services listed in the itinerary with compatible services if necessary. Italy- Carpe Diem expressly reserves the right to cancel a tour due to low enrolment or to decline inclusion of any person as a member of a trip or to terminate its services to any participant for good cause.
Liability
Make Tourism S.a.s and Italy – Carpe Diem assume NO LIABILITY for personal injury, property damage, or personal loss to you or those travelling with you in connection with any accommodations, transportation or other services resulting directly or indirectly from any occurrence or conditions beyond their control, including but not limited to acts of God, acts of terrorism, defect of vehicles, break-down in equipment, strikes, theft, cancellation or changes in itinerary schedules.
Remember that all travel documents are your responsibility. The payment of required deposit or any other partial payment for a reservation for hotel package/tour/group constitutes consent to all provisions of the conditions and general information contained herein. Make Tourism S.a.s and Italy - Carpe Diem accept no responsibility for losses or additional expenses.
Medical Issues
If you have a medical issue that will require professional care while on the trip, you must bring and be responsible for all the necessary items and treatment related to your condition.
Italy – Carpe Diem reserves the right to decline any trip participant whose condition, in our opinion, may affect the health, safety or enjoyment of other participants.
Italy – Carpe Diem and Make Tourism S.a.s. are not responsible for the costs of any medical treatment you may require during the trip. Under no circumstances are Italy – Carpe Diem and Make Tourism S.a.s. responsible for the quality of medical care, or lack thereof, you may receive while on the trip. We strongly recommend that you obtain medical and dental insurance that will cover the cost of any medical and dental assistance you may require during your trip.
Passports and Visas
Valid passports are required for all United States citizens travelling outside of the continental United States. Your passport number, name and expiration date are required when you send in your deposit.
ITALY-Carpe Diem and Make Tourism S.a.s are not responsible for your failure to obtain the necessary passport prior to your trip and should you fail to do so.
Insurance
Italy – Carpe Diem strongly urges you to purchase travel medical insurance and highly recommends passengers purchase baggage and trip cancellation insurance for your protection.

Room Assignments
Upon arrival, room assignments are determined by hotel management. Special requests are welcome but cannot be guaranteed. Please advise Italy-Carpe Diem if you anticipate a late arrival or an early departure.
